Privacy & Data Storage

Last updated: August 2026

Where your data lives today

All matter data you enter — client names, dates, documents you've logged, filing statuses, notes — is stored locally in your browser (via localStorage) on the device you're using. Nothing is transmitted to or stored on a DocketEZ server in the current version. There is no account system and no login; the app has no way to see, collect, or transmit your data because it never leaves your browser.

What this means in practice

  • Clearing your browser's site data, switching browsers, or switching devices will make your matters inaccessible or delete them permanently. Use the export function (per-matter JSON, or all-matters CSV) before clearing browser data or switching machines.
  • Because storage is local to one browser on one device, DocketEZ does not currently support multi-device access or true multi-user/team sharing. Team seats are on the roadmap, not built yet — see the pricing section on the homepage.
  • Browser reminders (if enabled) use your browser's Notification permission and only fire while the DocketEZ tab is open in that browser — this is not email or push notification, and nothing is sent through a server.

What we collect

We do not collect, sell, or share your matter data, because we do not receive it in the first place in this version. Basic, anonymous web traffic analytics (if enabled in the future) would be disclosed here before being turned on.

If paid plans are introduced

If and when a paid individual or team plan launches, payment details would be processed by a third-party payment provider (e.g., Stripe) under their own privacy terms — DocketEZ would not store card details directly. This page will be updated before that happens.
